Movies & Me

India has a huge film industry. Films are made not only in Hindi but also in many regional languages. Lately, the trend of making English films in India is also catching up. I guess that 8 out of Indians are movie buffs. I try to watch every popular film. I am a great fan of Shahrukh Khan, the undisputed king of Bollywood after Amitabh Bachhan.

I still remember the time when I used to watch black and white movies on Doordarshan. At that time, I used to watch a movie in a cinema hall only once or twice in three months. Then VCR came. I used to go to Mawana and watch 2-3 movies in a single day on VCR. Then came cable and the option of watching a movie just on its day of release. Initially, I took a lot of interest in watching movies on cable. However, you do not get same kind of enjoyment as there are frequent interruptions and ad breaks, and the screen size is small. In addition, you do not get the cinematographic ambience at home. Therefore, I have stopped watching movies at home. Whenever I have time, I go out and watch a movie. Right now, I am relatively busy and viewing only one movie in a month. The last movie I watched was Karthik Calling Karthik.

I very much liked the dialog "My name is Khan and I am not a terrorist".

Some of the memorable movies which I saw either on TV or on a cinema theater are:
